Kidnapped  as a child, Frances thought if was normal to live in shanties and work 12-hour days in fields from Michigan to Texas. She assumed that schooling was a luxury of the very few. She was too young to realize how twisted it was her alcoholic father beat their mom regularly and sexually assaulted her and her sister. Her young mind feared that her adored baby sister's death was not of "natural causes". This is an exceptional memoir that yields a rare, intimate glimpse into the life of a white migrant family during the 1950s-60s. But more important, it reveals how God reached the heart of a lonely, ravaged child and eventually transformed her life.

Customer Reviews

Customer Rating for this product is 5 out of 5 What a heartbreaking but riveting story!

I couldn't put this book down! God certainly has a plan for Fran Grubb or He wouldn't have allowed her to be here today. If you have been involved in alcohol, sexual, mental, emotional and physical abuse, you must read this book. I know that only God has allowed forgiveness in Fran's heart with all that she's been through and she can't do anything but Praise Him in the Storms of her life. Just amazing! I've read Dave Pelzer's books and Fran has been through just as much if not more.

This is the best book of it's kind since 'The Grapes of Rath'. Powerful and hard to put down. Written from the point of view of a child.

This is a book of overcoming obsticles and of being victorious rather than being a victim! This is a book that is hard to put down. The chain of events and horrors that end in a life transformed by God is awesome.

This is by far the most amazing story of how god can touch a persons life and use them to inspire others. I highly recommend it.

This book is wonderful Although the backdrop deals with those who've been abused, it also deals with everyday issues such as being hurt or offended in relationships. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has been deeply wounded
